Character Information

Character: Jinx
Canon: Arcane (s2 finale, hexgate explosion)
Age: 19
History: Link
Possessions: the clothes on her back
Weapon: N/A

Powers/Abilities:
MARKSMANSHIP: capable of using any type of gun, exceptional accuracy (when she's focused)

FIGHTER: while not as good as her sister at hand-to-hand combat, even before the Shimmer injection she was dexterous and had an awareness of her surroundings, being very good at dodging and quick, harried attacks

INTELLIGENCE: has been building devices and weaponry since she was a child; was able to work out Jayce Talis' notes on the hextech and implement it into her own weapon

SHIMMER-ENHANCED PHYSICALITY: Enhanced strength, speed, endurance (at the cost of shakier-than-previous mental health); notably her speed is her highest enhancement as that was where she excelled pre-Shimmer, causing her to move almost like she's flashing across. She can keep ahead of numerous tankier fighters for awhile before their brute strength can pin her down.

Application Questions

Who is the most important person in their life and why? What might be different if this person hadn't been around?
    Her sister Vi.

Jinx was always been defined by her sister Vi. Whether or not this was true, this was how she saw herself, ever since she was a child, made worse by Vi's supposed abandonment of her. She wanted to be as strong as Vi, as brave, the one everyone looked up to. She wanted to build her inventions to help her sister, but all she did was tear them apart.

When they were separated, Jinx would see her sister in anyone that had a similar appearance--notably similar hair color, coming apart instantly and losing control of herself. She says that she heard Vi, saw her, felt her like pricks on the back of her neck. Oddly, she described that shadowed presence as a motivator, not a hindrance, so it's possible that before they first reunited that Vi's voice was stronger than Mylo and Claggor's and perhaps not as violent, or more likely Jinx used the negativity to keep herself going, having very little positive influences keeping her stable.

Jinx refers to Vi being the one to 'create Jinx', not Silco, and at every move of her life whether it's voices in her head or seeing her sister again, to their final separation, Jinx has linked her existence to Vi.

Only in their last meetup she sees that the same is true for Vi with the way that she realizes Vi won't ever give up on her. Jinx does not see this as a good thing. She sees herself as a chain, a responsibility, that only hurts her sister. After so long desiring to 'kill what's left' of her family, Jinx doesn't want this for Vi.

So she decides for Vi to sever their link. It's only last second that she chooses life and escapes, believing she's freed both of them from this awful coexisting fate of theirs.

Canon did give us an AU world where Vi died on the job that changed everything. Powder grows up seemingly having a nice, semi-stable, normal, good life. She's still linked to her sister and that loss was felt by everyone around her. It's unlikely Ekko told her about this, as she may not have chose to appear dead given the similarity between the sisters and how they react. AU!Powder was never the same from losing Vi; OU!Vi likely would never be quite the same losing Jinx and maybe had Jinx known she would have not faked her death. But as far as Jinx is concerned, this is the only thing left that she can do to fix things.

So it's going to be real interesting if/when Vi shows up. (Jinx is not telling her sister that she intended to survive that explosion).

Is there an event in your character's life that they'd do differently? How so and why?
Find a way to not kill the majority of her family that first time. Because while it seems to be a theme for her that she can't escape--to the point that she believes anyone close to her dies by her hand--that first explosion was the worst.

She was so proud her invention worked; it was the first time she had any success. She thought she saved them. And instead it killed Vander, Mylo, and Claggor. It broke Vi, caused Vi to abandon her, and separate the sisters for several years.

While Jinx has other trauma stimuli, she still reacts to the hexgems's destructive potential--visibly recoiling and apologizing when she is first experimenting on the crystal trying to understand it, and later flinching when she realizes just what Isha's done with the two crystals, desperately trying to prevent another devastating explosion.

Her strongest hallucinations comes from the family she killed, Mylo and Claggor being the worst, and they will always be with her.

What's the greatest challenge you foresee your character facing in the setting?
Losing herself to it. She's looking to build anew but she could become hyperfixated and lost in her work, not able to draw herself out from it. She's never been much of a social creature, which could be blamed on Silco holding her back as a manipulation tactic but Jinx had a tendency to wander off and do enough of her own thing that would derail him. Her attack on Piltover earned her a group of 'fans' known as Jinxers that she only interacted with out of necessity and she seemed to simply shrug off any sign of monument that was given to her (notably brushing off a mural of herself, with Vander in the background).

For as explosive of a presence as she could be, she preferred to hide away and work. (Partially it seems like she also does this in order to muffle the mental feedback she gets. If she stuffs down all her feelings into a box and avoids instances that would spike her trauma, she can keep the hallucinations at bay.)

Not to mention she's terrified of getting close to anyone again, as she believes herself to be responsible for the death of anyone that does get close--whether it be a loved one, or an enemy.

Her desire to simply disappear could overwhelm her desire to Live because change is hard and she's not sure she's cutout for another rework of her existence.

As much as she was frustrated at Vi and Silco for not being able to accept both parts of herself, she also struggles to come to terms with herself as a melded Powder/Jinx. This place could either help or hinder that.

What's the easiest thing you foresee your character adapting to in the setting?
The cars! The mechanics! Amping up peoples' vehicles with so much weaponry shit that they don't need! Decking it out with painted decals and AWESOME artwork!!

This place is a playground for her. She has no ties pulling her back home. Few people know her. She's free of her reputation and what she stands for, villain or hero.

She has the new start she's wanted. With... some minor kinks people to be concerned over. The question is will she create, or will she fall back into the destruction that she knows best.
